If you’re working as a professional engineer and actively developing your knowledge and understanding of best practices, you can apply to become a member with MIET designatory letters.

Associate membership

Working in a related field or simply have a passion for engineering and technology? Associate membership is what you’re looking for.

Fellow membership

The highest category of IET membership you can apply for, we award Fellowship to the high achievers – those respected professionals at the forefront of engineering, technology, or cognate disciplines for at least five years or more.

We accept applications from both current IET Members and non-members.

Student and apprentice membership

Available to students studying for an undergraduate level or post-graduate qualification and apprentices undertaking apprenticeship schemes in an engineering or technology related sector.

Apprentice membership

While on this learning curve, you can get support from your institution, the IET. By being a member with us, you can increase your professional network, knowledge and skills, as well as get help with practical matters such as finances.

Armed Forces membership

We offer a discounted rate for Technician Members in the Armed Forces of £100. Standard fees apply to other categories.

Is your membership funded by your employer?

We’re delighted to work with over 500 corporate, academic and enterprise partners who fund IET membership for their employees. In most cases, you should apply for your membership and then seek reimbursement.  

Some of our partners use our Central Payment Scheme (CPS), which means they will pay us directly for your membership.
